Which browser should I use?

My Pet's Face Book utilize JavaScript extensively. Unfortunately not all browsers are able to view pages which make use of JavaScript. We have successfully tested this web site using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and above, Netscape 6 and above. Opera 5.01 should also work but has not been tested. If you are using a different browser and find that some pages look funny or do not work properly then please try one of the browser we have tested.

I have more than one animal. Do I have to create multiple web sites?

It is not necessary to create multiple web sites (but of course you can) if you have more than one pet. It is possible for you to create one web site and add pictures of all your pets. Unfortunately  you are not able to specify multiple types and breeds so just select appropriate settings for one of your pets. This only affects entries which are directory listed but wil limit your site being found in searches. To overcome this use 'Tags' extensively.

I don't have a scanner. Can I send photographs to you for scanning?

We realize that not everyone has access to a scanner and therefore cannot create a complete My Pets Face Book web site for their pets. With this in mind we provide a reasonable 'for fee' service to scan your pet photographs for you. For cost & details on how to do this please send an email to scanning@mpfb.com

What format should my pictures be?

Please make sure that any pictures you want to add to your My Pets Face Book web site are either JPEG, GIF or PNG format. Any other format will be rejected when you try and upload.

What file size should my pictures be?

You pictures should be no more than 100 KB in file size. Anything larger than this will be rejected. Please remember: the larger your picture, the longer it will take to display especially for folks without broadband access. You should try and optimize your pictures so that the file size is as small as possible.

What height and width can my pictures be?

Like Henry Ford said about the Model T, "you can have it in any color you want as long as its black." You pictures can be any height and width you want but the 100 KB file size limit still applies.

I am having trouble sizing and optimizing my pictures. Can you help?

We understand that not everyone knows how to manipulate pictures on their computers. For that reason we offer a FREE service whereby you can email your pictures to us and we will resize and optimize them for you. (if you don't have digital pictures see scanning above) If you would like us to do this then please email your pictures to images@mpfb.com  We endeavor to get your optimized pictures back to you within 24 hours.

Regarding browsers... the browser wars of the late 70's early 80's pretty much decided that Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) is king. If your computer is any make other than Apple/Mac you are probably using IE. If not then it is probably Netscape.

I don't know squat about Mac's other than that you folks that use them have a high opinion of them. That's cool. As for you folks that are running Intel/AMD machines I know there are some of you that believe that Bill Gates is the Devil incarnate and Microsoft is the devils spawn. So you are probably running FireFox or some other Open Source browser. That too is cool.

However, since the vast majority of the computing public does not fall into either of the above categories the site is optimized for the rest of us. I hope that this will not be an inconvenience for you.
